Eleonora Rohland ist seit Oktober 2019 Professorin für Verflechtungsgeschichte der Amerikas in der Vormoderne an der Universität Bielefeld. Von Oktober 2015 bis Oktober 2019 hatte sie eine Juniorprofessur selben Titels inne. Rohland studierte von 2001 bis 2009 Wirtschafts-, Sozial- und Umweltgeschichte und Englische Linguistik an der Universität Bern und schloss 2014 ihre Promotion an der Ruhr Universität Bochum ab. Ihre Forschung verbindet die Umwelt- und Klimageschichte mit der interamerikanischen Kolonial- und Verflechtungsgeschichte. Sie ist Teilprojektleiterin im Bielefelder SFB 1288 »Praktiken des Vergleichens: Die Welt ordnen und verändern« sowie Co-Koordinatorin der Forschungsgruppe »The Anthropocene as a Multiple Crisis: Perspectives from Latin America« am Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS) in Guadalajara (Mexiko). Außerdem ist sie Teil der Kerngruppe der interdisziplinären Kooperationsgruppe "Volcanoes, Climate and History" Am Bielefelder Zentrum für interdisziplinäre Forschung (ZiF).
Rohland ist Mitglied des Center for InterAmerican Studies (CIAS), das sie von 2019 bis 2021 als Direktorin leitete. Seit Juni 2023 ist sie Mitglied des Hochschulrates der Universität Bielefeld und seit Oktober 2023 Co-Direktorin des Zentrums für interdisziplinäre Forschung (ZiF).
Rohland ist Mitherausgeberin der interdisziplinären Zeitschrift "Climates and Cultures in History" und Mitherausgeberin der dreisprachigen (DE/ EN/ SP) Publikationsreihe "The Anthropocene: Climate and Environment in the Human Era", die von transcript und Bielefeld University Press herausgegeben wird.
